Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.
Fans can expect learning which adventurers will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
